‘How terrible for them!’
Don’t you mean:
‘How ‘Exempt’ for Me?!’

What keeps White Supremacy in Place?

USING YOUR PRIVELIDGE

Privilege confers dominance and is an unearned entitlement.

WHERE’S THE TRAUMA?

--------------

Diasporic mental health and the concepts of trauma as individualised, and how to navigate cultural trauma, erasures and dissapearances of our identities and belonging, - is an ethno centric culture’s issue, and not only a brown or black bodied, or immigrant’s isssue - ie: that one would need to ‘personally heal from’.

It is White Body Supremacy that needs to heal, and white culture that needs to do the healing. We need to stop gaslighting the diasporic global majority and tasking them with constant mental health labour.

--------------

I wish more white bodies would take the chance to really look deeply into their own white privelidges, enough to digest this in, and stop holding white privelige at arms length.

WHAT KEEPS SUPREMACY IN PLACE?

--------------

The Myth of Maritocracy
(the myth that you earned what you have)

The Myth of White Racelessness

The Myth of Mono Culture
(everybody lives the same way and if you are having trouble its ‘your problem’)

The Myth of White Moral & Managerial Superiority
(the myth of ‘holding it all together’, organising and making lists)

--------------

How are we looking at our privelidge? Are we actually using our privelidges to futher educate, de-program our collective? No-one can do the inner work but white bodies...

Some great reading:

NOTES FROM THE VIDEO:

Knowledge production is white and male.
White Bodies have taken in the idea that knowledhe is white.
What if something beyond me, systemic, causes my sucess?

Maybe the reason someone gets grants to do their research is because they are white? So they have the money system working for them, too.

Maybe the women of colour write better proposals even, but they are not white, so; BIWOC folks dont have the knowlegde system and neither the economic system working to their favour.

What else do I have, outside of the knowledge system and the money system working for me?
